12 Inch 27.06.14
following the first steps on his return to record production last year, greg wilson delivers the second release on his schooled in the classics imprint just in time for the arrival of the summer sunshine. while the first schooled release coupled 2 instrumental tracks, blue angel and 12-turn-13, weve taken things a whole stage further this time around, introducing vocals, courtesy of boss merseyside singers katherine & carmel reynolds, who are making their vinyl debut (and how!).
mat.joe sure had an impressive breakthrough ride last year including worldwide recognition, endless touring schedule and an impressive catalogue of tracks and remixes including acclaimed eps in off which quickly scouted them as core artists.
home invasion is the new label from real tone man franck roger, a man whose career has scaled the full depths of house music over the past decade or so. evidently seeking a new challenge, the parisian s new imprint promises to adhere to a vehemently underground way of working, with every ep upfront released on vinyl-only terms and produced exclusively on analogue equipment

steve lees (the project club) above machine label returns with another superb release from acclaimed italian duo almunia their last single for am was a best-seller, and their celebrated output through paul mudd murphys claremont56 label, including the recent pulsar lp has seen the their blissful & uplifting balearic sound win over many a new follower *find my way* is a gorgeous, acoustic guitar led vocal number, conjuring up twilight beach side boogie, balmy breezes and ice cold drinks. marius circus gets to work on the b side, taking the irresistible melodies to a much later, darker dancefloor. laying a foundation of squelchy moog style bass and a toughened up rhythm track before heavily effected guitars sweep across the mix elevating the whole thing to near transcendental heights! a superb release and addition to the above machine catalogue.
home invasion is the new label from real tone man franck roger, a man whose career has scaled the full depths of house music over the past decade or so. evidently seeking a new challenge, the parisian s new imprint promises to adhere to a vehemently underground way of working, with every ep upfront released on vinyl-only terms and produced exclusively on analogue equipment. ogers re-tracing of his roots pays dividends too, and whats most striking about the labels debut outing, the simply-titled home invasion 02 ep, is how very different it sounds to vintage real tone planes. gone are the whimsical, celestial deep house hues so favoured by the latter, and in there place is a series of cuts that expertly toe the line between house and techno without resorting to generic soundscapes
after many things, released in 2008, and from africa with fury: rise in 2011, a long way to the beginning is the third album by seun anikulapo kuti with egypt 80, the 14 musicians big band hes been leading since the death of his father fela kuti in 1997.

now hitting release number six, fly by night music serves up something slightly different from riccio (bosconi // super value), complete with a remix from craig smith (6th borough project), for its latest offering. this is an equally classy release but more of an obvious disco tip. coming in a press of 200 limited blue vinyl and a letter press sleeve, this is another boutique package from fbnm. the man behind the jungle way ep is italian riccardo zanaroli aka riccio, who most recently appeared on the widely lauded bosconi compilation bosconi stallions. a dj, collector, producer and record seller, riccio is a staple on the italian scene and brings plenty of louche disco funk to this release.
from hamburgs real underground rvds aka richard von der schulenburg comes up with his first smallville 12inch- a milestone in sweetest analogue house music, dedicated to the moon.
experimenting with analog synthesizers and obscure percussion instruments helped kyson create the melancholic atmosphere of >the waters way<, the title of his new lp and first with friends of friends music a reflection of his time living in the long and harsh european winter. the new kyson live show, debuting this fall, is energetic as well as intricate. the three-piece setup incorporates live drums, analog synthesizers, vocals and samplers. accompanied by scott van manen (drums, samplers) and sam rogers (keys, vocals).
with previous releases on influential labels hotflush, aus and hypercolour, george fitzgerald has joined a new home, signing to domino offshoot double six. kicking off his inauguration is new single i can tell (by the way you move), a house cut which set the 7.000+ strong crowd at ushuaia in ibiza moving last week as he went back to back with radio 1s pete tong, a relationship that kicked off earlier this year with georges radio 1 essential mix.
ghostek is a russian garage and techno producer currently residing in moscow. he has previously released vinyl on other heights and shiprec, and has collaborated with rooflight as ghostlight, releasing a 12 inch on styrax. a prolific producer, his tracks have created a substantial online fan base, with some of his productions reaching tens of thousands of plays. he runs the digital label squared harmony. the *no way out ep* is composed of four tracks, two very garage leaning, two more towards techno, all reminiscent of londons music scene, despite the producers russian location. the dark atmosphere of the music is reflected in the artwork and track names across the release. sub squared is a new label, a sub-label of project squared which has a back catalogue including tracks by kowton, and, asusu and tom dicicco. the aim of this new label is to represent the taste of one of the two founders of project squared.
the release kicks off with title track find my way which features exciting young vocalist, ria morans heartfelt tones. cade opts for swinging 909 drums and a hooky bass-lick as the driving force, while morans voice sporadically eases in and out of the groove and understated chord stabs and tension building strings fuel the musicality, resulting in a classy, deep-house workout. up next is dr. fox, embracing a similar deep, contemporary house aesthetic, with saw-wave bass hits, cosseting pads and hooky vocal snippets acting as the fundamental elements of the cut, cade then plays on subtle variations in the groove throughout its near seven minute duration, to maintain an evolving dynamism and enticement. entering the latter half of the single we have ghostryder up first, cade opts for a more upfront approach this time, bringing busy drum programming to the forefront, alongside sweeping synth tones, a tom-driven bass line and dubbed out vocal licks.
great double a-sided reissue from tiny brooklyn label starburst. features the superb and impossible-to-find *three way situation* by nadie la fonde, a cool and dreamy trinidadian disco cut which hit big in chicago as well as in new yorks cooler clubs back in 79. backed with the equally in-demand tropical monster *soca fusion* by bobby raveen. jam-packed with horns, seriously funky bass and driving percussion, this is pure dancefloor dynamite. dont miss!
in on my way, a rich cultural heritage has been distilled into an upfront album of burning dance floor action, showing us why the bbe-crowned king of digging has for so long remained a formidable, worldwide musical icon.
for the first time ever, the ives brothers cult debut album is reissued, here in remastered format. spread across 13 folk electro-acoustic pieces, an english love ode mixed with a melonconic darkness that transcends any simple happy-hippy pigeon-holing to offer much more. emotional rescue is delighted to announce welcoming the enigmatic, electro-acoustic duo woo to the roster.
the third release on james zabielas imprint born electric comes from canadas iron galaxy aka adam hodgins. his discography includes music on trend setting labels like audio culture and tigas turbo recordings.
nice price deal !!! debukas follows up his two critically acclaimed eps with another superb emission of underground electronics with a pop sensibility. his way of approaching electronic music been compared to the likes of john talabot, caribou and hot chip in the way he mixes his pop and underground influences.
natch ltd is back! this is the time for analog people to bring back precious memories of dark environments banged by the sharpest restless techno. aubrey and unam zetineb remixes put more weight and flavours to this strong record, made with particular affection for massive beats.
>a good friend of ours said after hearing an advance copy of this record that adult. used to sit on the sidelines and critique the idiosyncrasies of culture, but now we are on the inside, sending our message out.< so says adam lee miller of the way things fall, adult.s fifth album and a record that genuinely deserves the oft abused music industry epithet longawaited. miller pauses before adding wryly, >we agree.<
for adjunct26 we bring back one of the adjunct founding fathers konstantin gabbro aka papa sang bass. for the all the way back in time again ep, konstantin goes deep sea diving with heavily textured sounds and rhythms that wont let you go. this is the late night stuff folks! late night funk for late night minds. in remix land we have a heart throbbing deep bass mix by sonja moonear (ruta5, perlon) on the 12 inch of the a side gem barb coating sonnet. a must have for all lovers!

music that rumbles. it is the trademark for hidden recordings. we continue the tradition in a big way with fast-rising uk producer chris finke offering the up the labels next release, dont try this at home. you may recognize his name from such prominent labels such as mote evolver, beardman, and trapez, and now joins our family. chris is tough to categorize, and that is why we love this ep so much. it is a combination of his unique mix of techno, bass and anything else he feels like, all rolled up into a nice industrial big-room package ready for warehouses around the world. clrs black asteroid provides a bold and unforgettable remix of dont try this at home.

as the london & berlin based somethinksounds imprint approaches a tenth release since its inception in 2010 we have learnt that although you can never be too sure of what they are going to serve up next, you can be sure its going to be of the highest quality. whether it be unearthing exquisitely produced idm by lucky paul, future house sounds from rising stars such as eliphino and ossie (black orange juice) or straight up club bangers by some of the biggest hitters in the game (gadi mizrahi of wolf + lamb), this time they deliver what could be one of the most infectious vocal drops of 2012 on artifacts sensational double a-side the way it do/we trapped.
like the satisfying first sip of soda water spritz, roland tings debut ep, *milky way*, bubbles, barms, and beads through your body. roland tings is rohan newman, a melbourne producer who, like recent rubies holy balm, forces, and canyons, proves there is just more and more greatness behind the great and powerful oz. melodic acid trips doused with swish-ticky-booms, like a rubber ball in space with endless bump and bounce. sweet off his japanese jaunt, speeding things down with sapphire slows shows, newmans taste is pure effervescence and buoyancy. but he has got a percussive stickiness as well, a vim/vigor that raps and rips through trax touch-ups and echo-plexes. not the nineties but the none-ties – no glimmer glam, or sampladelic vocal vacations, or happy house heartbeats. he ends the creamy *milky way* with a brilliantly wonky theme that springs like a wind-up toy gone loose. roland tings, dings, and zings.
parisian techno enfant terrible mondkopf makes a rare excursion away from his fast rising in paradisium imprint to deliver an ep for perc trax, a label that clearly shares mondkopfs love for the experimental, the industrial and the distorted. across these three tracks the french producer applies an overdriven, fuzz-heavy aesthetic to symphonic broken beat techno. think ancient methods or perc at their most uncompromising but then expanded in every direction heavier bass, sharper highs and an orchestral edge that is epic without ever coming across as contrived.
